📕 DAD WISDOM

You’re Probably Doing Better Than You Think

I was listening to something on YouTube about imposter syndrome the other day and it’s wild how often it sneaks into everyday life. Not just work. Dad life too.

Feeling like everyone else has it more figured out. Like other dads are more patient, more organized, more present. Like you’re somehow behind or barely holding the thing together.

Meanwhile, most dads are walking around carrying the exact same thoughts. That’s the weird thing about imposter syndrome.

It convinces capable people they’re unqualified while they’re actively doing the job. And fatherhood is basically one long stretch of learning on the fly.

Nobody fully knows what they’re doing. Every stage is new. Every kid is different.

So if you feel a little uncertain sometimes, good. That probably means you care. Just don’t get too trapped in your own head about it.

Your kids aren’t looking for perfection. They’re just looking for you.

RAD DAD

Steve Irwin (A History Lesson)

Most people remember Steve Irwin as the loud crocodile guy in khaki shorts yelling “Crikey!”

What gets lost is how much of a family man he actually was.

Grew up in a wildlife park run by his parents in Australia. By 9 years old, he was already helping relocate crocodiles. Completely normal childhood stuff.

Eventually takes over the family zoo with his wife Terri. Builds it into a global thing. TV show explodes. Suddenly this dude is wrestling snakes on Animal Planet while becoming one of the most recognizable people on earth.

But he never really became “celebrity famous.”

Still feeding animals. Still cleaning enclosures. Still barefoot half the time.

Then the dad era kicks in.

Has two kids: Bindi and Robert. And instead of separating work and family, he basically pulled them right into his world.

Not in a forced “legacy” way. More like: “Come on, let’s go look at turtles.”

There’s footage of him holding baby Robert while feeding crocs that would absolutely break the internet today. People freaked out about it back then too.

But his kids genuinely adored him.

Everything with Steve felt full speed and fully present. No fake TV persona either. Every person who met him basically says the same thing: the camera version was the real guy.

Then in 2006, he dies filming a documentary after being pierced by a stingray barb. Total freak accident.

His kids were young. Bindi was 8. Robert was 2.

And somehow his whole family kept the mission going.

Australia Zoo is still thriving. His kids grew up into wildlife conservationists. The thing he built actually lasted.

DAD BOD

Just Do The Thing

Was at a kid’s birthday party this weekend, surrounded by juice boxes, half-eaten cupcakes, and dads debating diets like they were on a panel at Davos.

Keto, fasting, macros, supplements, some guy on Instagram with abs and a ring light…the whole circus.

But here’s the boring truth: we mostly know what works.

Lift heavy three times a week. Do some Zone 2 cardio (the easy-ish pace where you can still talk). Eat mostly real food that didn’t come wrapped in twelve layers of plastic.

That’s it. You probably don’t need another coach, guru, or lifestyle influencer whispering “optimize” into your headphones.

You just need to do the thing. Yeah, it sucks sometimes, but you’ve never finished a workout and thought, “Man, I really regret not staying on the couch.”
