Where the real impact happens

Plus - how to beat the afternoon slump

Hope you had a good weekend. I spent mine ripping up 300 square feet of pavers to make way for some turf — so honestly, sitting at the desk feels like a win today.

Quick reminder: Mother’s Day is less than two weeks out. If you haven’t locked down a gift yet, now’s the time.

📕 DAD WISDOM

Staying a Season Ahead

The goal isn’t just to show up for the season your kid is in right now — it’s to start laying the foundation for the next one.

You build trust before they hit the years when they start pulling away. You model patience before they test every ounce of it. You teach them how to fail and get back up before life really knocks them down.

It’s not about over-planning or controlling their future. It’s about making sure, when the road gets rougher, they know exactly where to turn — and who will be there.

Parenting isn’t just reacting to where they are today. It’s quietly preparing for who they’re becoming. The more trust you build now — when the stakes feel small — the stronger the bridge you’ll have when they need you most.

Stay a season ahead. Invest early. The future version of your kid (and you) will be glad you did.

Kelly Slater

11x World Champion | Girl Dad x2

Kelly Slater has spent decades mastering the ocean — but his biggest priorities have always been back on land. Father to Taylor Slater, an accomplished artist born in 1996, Kelly recently expanded his family again, welcoming a new daughter with his longtime partner Kalani Miller in early 2024.

Fatherhood, he’s said, shifted his priorities — moving his focus beyond titles and fame toward building a life that’s worth modeling. Time, patience, and presence became the real trophies.

Even after 11 world championships, the most important thing he’s building these days isn’t another record. It’s a legacy his kids can be proud of. Follow Kelly here.

DAD TOYS

Multi-Screwdriver

Boring? Kind of.
Necessary? Absolutely.

My kids have been treating my tools like playground equipment, so this thing’s been clutch. This 13-in-1 multi-screwdriver keeps all 12 bits tucked into the handle, ratchets smooth, and actually makes quick fixes feel quick.

One screwdriver. No lost bits. No excuses.

How to Beat the Afternoon Slump

Tired Back To School GIF by Originals

You crush your morning — firing off emails, knocking out calls, feeling like a real functioning adult — then lunch hits... and so does the wall.

Here’s how to fight back:

  • Delay your coffee: Sip it around 10am–12pm, not first thing.

  • Fix your lunch: More protein, fewer carbs, lots of water.

  • Move a little: 5–10 min walk after you eat.

  • Save heavy workouts: Crush weights later, not at sunrise.

  • Power nap: 10–20 min if you can. Even 5 min helps.

Simple moves = stronger finish. Dive deeper here.
