And more…
Let’s get into it.

📕 DAD WISDOM
Use the Product
I was talking with a business partner of mine last week and he asked me a question I didn’t have an answer to.
“At what point are you done building the product and you just use it?”
Most of us spend years building. Whether it’s your career, business, financial security, insert [yours here].
We just keep building toward whatever we think the next version of life is supposed to look like. And building is good. Ambition is good. Wanting more for your family is good.
But at some point, you’ve gotta use the product.
Take the afternoon off. Sit by the pool you worked for. Take the trip. Coach the team. Have dinner with your family without thinking about what needs to happen tomorrow.
You don't have to stop building. Just make sure you're actually enjoying some of what you've already built along the way.
Otherwise, what’s the point of building it?

RAD DAD
Jon-Mark Craddock

Got connected with Jon-Mark recently, and it was refreshing to talk with someone who’s building a lot, thinking about even more, and still trying to keep the main things the main things.
JM is the owner of La Matera in Spicewood, Texas, with a few side quests that include Ramp Ranch and The Dadrepreneurs Podcast. He’s also a dad of two girls, ages four and one.
What stood out most from Jon-Mark is the way he thinks about attention.
His life has three main pillars: his wife, his kids, and the business. The hard part is knowing which one needs 100% of him in that moment, and being willing to shift without guilt when the others only get 60%.
His favorite part of the day is simple. Coffee at the dining room table while his girls eat breakfast and they watch the sun come up together. Nothing crazy. Just the kind of ordinary moment he says he’d give up almost anything to protect.
His reminder for dads is a good one: nobody actually has this figured out. We’re all making it up as we go. Make a few more good decisions than bad ones, respond like water when the milk hits the floor, and keep finding your way back to calm.

DAD GEAR
La Matera Belts
Felt right to give La Matera some Dad Gear love this week too. Jon-Mark and the crew make handcrafted belts and accessories inspired by Argentina, with a mix of woven styles and classic leather that feel a little more interesting than your standard belt.
It’s an investment that’ll last a long time. Also works just as well with jeans as it does dressed up a bit. Big fan of the brand and what they’re building.

DAD BOD
The Power of Resiliency

Saw this study in Arnold’s Pump Club: researchers followed 10,000+ adults for about 12 years and found the most resilient group had a 38% lower risk of dying than the least resilient group.
Heavy stat, but the more useful takeaway is that resilience isn’t fixed.
Things like staying calm under pressure, having a sense of purpose, and pushing through hard moments can all be practiced.
Basically, resilience is another thing you can train. Pretty useful when the workout is hard. Even more useful when your kid is melting down before 7 am.
