Hey guys. Hope the weekend was solid.

Got some fun stuff happening in the community section today.

Let’s get into it.

📕 DAD WISDOM

A Simple Reminder

We know a lot of dads are carrying the same stuff right now. Work, providing, the pressure to show up, be present, keep everything moving.

It’s easy to assume our kids understand some of that. Why we’re working late. Why we’re distracted. Why our mind is somewhere else.

Last week my 4-year-old hit me with something out of nowhere.

“I just wanna hang out with you.”

I asked him why.

He said, “Because I like being with you.”

Dang. That was it. No deeper explanation. No context about work or responsibility or stress.

Just that. It was a good reminder that while there’s a lot going on in our heads, our kids aren’t carrying that same weight.

They’re not thinking about pressure or deadlines. They just wanna hang.

For the newer dads reading this…there’s going to be a moment when your kid says something simple like that. And it’ll hit you harder than you expect.

Because underneath everything we’re juggling, that’s still the whole thing.

They just want you around.

RAD DAD

Henry Brydon

Adventure used to mean cycling across continents for Henry Brydon.

Now it usually means den building, bike rides through the woods, and remembering to pack enough snacks.

Henry lives in the Forest of Dean in England and runs Outside Kids and We Are Explorers. He’s also dad to two kids, ages nine and six. Before fatherhood, he thought of his life as “free.” Then two small humans arrived and calmly rearranged the furniture of his universe.

The big adventures didn’t disappear. They just got smaller, muddier, and a lot more fun to share.

One idea that stuck with him came from a statistic he read years ago: about 75% of the time we’ll ever spend with our kids happens before they turn twelve.

So Henry works from home, does school pickups, and sneaks in microadventures whenever he can. His advice to other dads is simple. The magic isn’t usually in the big trips. It’s hidden in ordinary moments. You just have to remember to look up.

Follow Henry and his adventures over at Outside Kids.

Rethinking How We Label Food

A lot of us struggle with food because we label it. Good food. Bad food. Cheat meal. Clean meal. And once that label sticks, the guilt shows up right behind it.

A better approach is to ask a different question: What role is this food playing right now? Fuel for a long day. Enjoyment on a slow Saturday. Connection around the dinner table. Or comfort after a brutal week.

When you think in roles instead of labels, food stops being a moral test. It becomes a choice.

Before your next meal, pause and ask what role that food is playing. Then notice the patterns.

This idea comes from the crew at Arnold’s Pump Club, and it’s a good reminder that the goal isn’t perfect eating. It’s intentional eating that actually fits your life as a dad.
