Hey guys. Happy Friday.

Summer, slow down. Today’s send is a little late, but for good reason: Friday Surf Club in Charleston.

7am at 13E on Folly Beach. Small waves. Great coffee from Camino Caffeino. Even better conversations with other dads.

Come join us sometime.

Have an awesome weekend. See you tomorrow with a Saturday send edition.

If you’re new here, we mix it up on Fridays with a quick recap from the week and a few extra gems to head into the weekend right.

  • Wisdom of the Week: Dads can get lost in the shuffle a bit. So here’s the move…shoot a dad a text. Ask how he’s doing. Ask how the family is doing. Sometimes you’ve got to be the guy who gets that kind of thing started. Might mean more than you think.

IN THE TRENCHES

Topic: Who helps out more with the kids?

We asked the Dad Day community who they lean on most for help with the kids. The biggest response wasn't "my parents" or "my spouse's parents."

It was: "We're doing it on our own."

A lot of the comments sounded similar. Parents live hours away. Some have passed away. Others are still working or simply aren't in a position to help.

One dad wrote:

"Wish it were more shared, but it is what it is. We are definitely making it work."

Another said:

"Don't live near family so we're mostly on our own. Good friends help out in tight spots."

That last part came up over and over.

The dads who didn't have grandparents nearby talked about building a village instead. Friends who became family. Neighbors. Other parents. People they'd do the same for in a heartbeat.

And for the dads lucky enough to have grandparents close by, there was a common theme too:

They know how valuable that help is.

One response simply said:

"My parents are half a mile away... and they want to help. Priceless."

No matter which camp you're in, one thing was pretty clear: Nobody was pretending this thing was meant to be done alone.

GARAGE

Send us what you’re working on…

A reader sent us this setup via Instagram: a rented warehouse turned into a personal garage, workshop, and office.

Apparently, more guys are doing this.

Anyone here have a space like it? Send us photos. We’d love to see what you’ve built.

We want to see your projects. Send ‘em our way! Just reply to this email.

🍻 Weekend Assignment: Buy the weird snack. Life's too short to walk past the spicy pickle-flavored pretzels and wonder what could've been.
