📕 DAD WISDOM
Effort Over Outcomes
John Wooden never talked about winning with his championship UCLA teams. He just asked one question after every game: "Did you give your best effort?"
The scoreboard lies sometimes. The effort doesn't. Maybe that's why teaching our kids to focus on what they put in, not what they get out, matters more than any win.
It's not about the trophies or the grades or even making the team. It's about them knowing deep down they gave everything they had.
Ten championships later, Wooden proved his point: focus on the effort, and the outcomes tend to take care of themselves.

BADASS DAD
Joe Montana - Beyond the Comback Kid
Before he was "Joe Cool" making fourth-quarter comebacks, Joe Montana was learning about persistence from his own dad - who refused to let him quit football at age 7. That lesson carried him through four Super Bowl wins, a Hall of Fame career, and raising four kids of his own.
The guy famous for staying cool under pressure used to call his wife (still together since 1985) from the sidelines between drives just to say hi. In 2020, he proved those dad instincts never fade when he stopped an intruder from grabbing his grandkid - turns out some plays don't need a playbook.
"Confidence is fragile, but family keeps you grounded," he says. Maybe that's why the guy known for being unshakeable in the pocket knows the real victories happen around the family dinner table.

DAD TOYS
The Theragun
Started with a $30 Amazon special that sounded like a jackhammer. Finally sprung for the Theragun Relief - game changer. It's like comparing a kid's guitar to a Gibson.
Super quiet, Bluetooth for guided routines, and hits those post-workout knots that the cheap one just buzzed over. Yeah, it's pricey, but so is a chiropractor.

The Sleep Hack You’re Missing

Ever heard of the 10-3-2-1 rule? For an 11:45pm bedtime:
No caffeine after 1:45pm | 10 Hours
No food after 8:45pm | 3 hours
No work after 9:45pm | 2 hours
No screens after 10:45pm | 1 hour
But here's the kicker: add another "2" for no water two hours before bed. Yeah, we know - skipping that bedtime hydration feels wrong.
But quality sleep beats that last glass of water every time. Besides, nobody's setting PRs during those 2am bathroom sprints.

Lead From the Front: Walt Disney taught his team to "plus it" - always add one small improvement to whatever they're working on. A simple sketch could become a masterpiece through tiny, consistent upgrades.
Takeaway: Show your kids how small, daily improvements lead to big results.

THE SPOT
Spaces that make you wanna stay a while
If bourbon is your love language, Kentucky's got an itinerary for you. Ten distilleries, three days, and more whiskey knowledge than you can handle. Base yourself in Bardstown (literally the "Bourbon Capital of the World") at the historic Talbott Inn, which has been pouring drinks since 1779.
The lineup? Evan Williams to Angel's Envy in Louisville, Maker's Mark to Heaven Hill in Bardstown, and finish strong with Woodford Reserve and Wild Turkey near Lexington. Each stop is a history lesson in a glass.
Pro tip: Book way ahead and spring for a driver. Trust us on this one.
