Hey guys. Happy Friday. A couple of fun college games this weekend. Indiana takes on Ohio State at 12pm ET. Alabama and Tennessee at 3:30pm ET. Have fun out there.
We’ll see ya Monday.
If you’re new here, we mix it up on Fridays with a quick recap from the week and a few extra gems to head into the weekend right.
“People do not seem to realize that their opinion of the world is also a confession of their character.”

THE DIGEST
Wisdom of the Week: Rick Rubin talks about giving yourself permission to fail, which is really permission to be a beginner. That gets harder as you get older and more comfortable being good at things. So pick one thing you’ve been putting off because you might suck at it and start anyway. Your kids are watching.

IN THE TRENCHES
Topic: Do You Actually Enjoy Your Job?
We spend a pretty significant chunk of our lives working, so we were curious how dads are feeling about their jobs these days.
The good news? 44% said most days are pretty good, and another 18% genuinely love what they do. On the other side, 24% said it's mostly a paycheck, while 12% are thinking about making a change.
Here were some of the comments…
One dad who's a firefighter said he has the best job in the world.
Another has spent 26 years helping people get wheelchairs and still loves it.
A few guys shared stories about finally leaving jobs they weren't happy in.
But there were also some pretty candid responses about feeling stuck.
Good money, growing families, benefits that are hard to walk away from.
One dad wondered when the right time is to take a career risk when you've got a young family depending on you.
We also liked this perspective from a dad who works from home:
"I love what my job allows me to do but I only like the job itself."
He talked about being able to adjust his schedule around his wife and son, and how that's become more valuable than chasing a bigger paycheck or title.
We appreciate everyone who weighed in on this one, especially the guys who shared some of the tougher parts of their careers.

PROJECTS
Show us your space or something you’re working on…
Folks we’re digging the DIY vibe last week, so we’re rolling with it. Check out this camper van conversion from start to finish.

WEEKEND BURNER
The Dirty Mile:
Run 1 mile, but break it up every quarter mile.
0.25 mile run
15 push-ups
0.25 mile run
20 walking lunges
0.25 mile run
15 burpees
0.25 mile run
30 air squats
Run the quarters hard enough that you’re working, but not so hard that the burpees feel impossible to get through.

ONE LAST THING

🍻 60-Mile October Challenge and Hill Yeah: The crew is still grinding on the 60-mile challenge. Head over to Strava to log your miles. HILL YEAH is happening. It’s our most unofficial gathering to date.
🍻 Weekend Assignment: Hit a garage sale or flea market with your kids this weekend. Give each of them $10 and let them hunt for whatever catches their eye. 😂
🧠 Worth Knowing: The Guinness Book of World Records started because the managing director of Guinness got into an argument over which game bird was the fastest in Europe. He realized there wasn't a reliable book to settle these kinds of debates, so he commissioned one. The first edition came out in 1955. In 2008, the business reportedly sold for $118 million. Not bad for an argument over a bird.

dad shower thoughts: There's an age where getting invited to something feels great, but finding out it's been canceled feels even better (sometimes).
