📕 DAD WISDOM

Catch the Moment

The other day, my kid said something, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Because I remember saying that exact thing to my dad at a young age.

And then I remembered him saying, “It goes fast.”

I used to brush it off. But now? I get it. Some days feel endless; kids whining, messes multiplying, patience wearing thin. You wish the clock would just hurry up. Then suddenly, they’re reading chapter books. Asking to drive. Telling you to slow down.

Here’s the reminder:
The hard days are real. But they’re not forever. Try to catch a moment when it’s good. Slow it down. Not for Instagram; just for you.

Time’s moving whether you notice it or not. Might as well pay attention.

RAD DAD

Beav Brodie

📍Hilton Head, SC
💼 CEO of Tactical Baby Gear
👶 Dad to three kids (3,11,13)

Chatted with Beav Brodie a few weeks back, and I’ll just say it—solid dude. He’s the founder of Tactical Baby Gear, a brand that started with a diaper bag and turned into a full-blown movement.

Beav’s raising three kids down in Hilton Head, SC and he’s been through it.

When asked about the hardest and most rewarding parts of parenting, his answer was the same: childhood cancer. That tells you everything you need to know about the kind of strength this guy carries.

His advice to new dads?

“Show up and care. Everything else will fall into place.”

His non-negotiables?

Safety and knowledge. Period.

And the one thing he wishes he knew before becoming a dad?

“Wait 10 years before you worry about having nice things.”

Fair. When he’s not building one of the most badass diaper bags in the game, you’ll probably find him building cars, boating, or on the range.

The guy lives it. And we’re proud to feature him as a ‘Rad Dad.’

DAD TOYS

Tactical Baby Gear

We had to give a shout to Beav Brodie’s Tactical Baby Gear setup. Wish I’d known about these bags back when we had our first—they’re built like actual gear, not some pastel-colored purse you "borrow" from your wife.

This thing’s got:

  • A built-in changing mat

  • Magnetic wipes pouch

  • Interior organization that actually makes sense

  • Expanding bottle holder

  • And hide-away stroller straps so it’s not flopping around like a gym bag

It's the kind of diaper bag you’ll actually be proud to carry.

👉 Check it out at Tactical Baby Gear
(Also, Beav’s a Dad Day reader—so you know it’s legit.)

DAD BOD

Electrolytes vs Water?

Just Do It Running GIF by Rocky

Sweaty workouts feel great until you realize chugging plain water isn’t enough to recover properly.

When you sweat, you lose more than water. You lose key electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium) that your muscles and energy levels need to bounce back.

Water alone? Flushes out fast.
Electrolytes? Help your body actually retain fluids and repair.

So next time you wrap a run, a lift, or a yardwork grind, mix in an electrolyte powder.
Hydrate smarter. Recover faster. Show up stronger. I personally like Thorne because they don’t have a bunch of junk in them.

JUNK DRAWER

  • Challenge of the week: Hold a plank for 1 minute every day. Take your kid on a one-on-one walk.

  • Run Clubs: I’ll keep pumping our grassroots crew here; Todd coming in hot with the 4th week in Annapolis, and Nick in Pittsburgh is about to get the first run off the ground. If you filled out the form last week to host a run club, I’ll be in touch (I’m but one person & a few days behind on emails)

  • DAD HATS ARE LIVE - heritage-feeling; simple, clean, and timeless. Just DAD, stitched bold and built to last. Get one or two here. Appreciate the support.
