📕 DAD WISDOM

Eight

Our oldest turns 8 tomorrow. I legit can’t wrap my head around it.

Eight years ago I had no idea what I was doing (still don’t, haha). Dad Day didn’t exist. Most of my friends weren’t even dads yet. I just knew I wanted to be the best dad I could be for this little guy.

People told me it would go fast. I believed them. I just didn’t understand what they meant.

Because it doesn’t feel fast when you’re in it.

It feels like soccer practices. School drop-offs. Getting your ass kicked on every level some days and then just a thousand regular days that somehow turned into eight years.

If you’re a newer dad…you probably can’t imagine your little one turning eight.

I couldn’t either. And if you’ve got teenagers or grown kids, I’m guessing you’re smiling because you know this even better than I do.

These kids have a way of holding up a mirror. They show you where you’re patient, where you’re not, what matters, and who you’re becoming.

There’s really nothing else like it. Being a dad has been the greatest privilege of my life, and ya I got a little choked up even typing that out.

RAD DAD

Roberto Clemente

Hall of Famer. MVP. Exactly 3,000 career hits. But that's not why people still talk about him.

Clemente and his wife Vera were raising three young sons when a massive earthquake hit Nicaragua in 1972. After hearing relief supplies weren't reaching the people who needed them, he decided to get on the next cargo plane himself.

The plane crashed shortly after takeoff.

He was 38.

One of his sons later said their dad taught them that if you have the chance to help someone, you help them. That’s just who he was.

One of Roberto's own quotes says it best:

"Any time you have an opportunity to make a difference in this world and you don't, then you are wasting your time on Earth."

The greatest legacy you leave your kids usually isn't what you accomplished. It's what you showed them mattered most.

DAD BOD

Should You Wear a Fitness Tracker?

Based on the science, ya, probably.

Just don’t expect your Apple Watch to drag you off the couch. Research suggests wearables can help people move more, including adding roughly 1,800 steps and 40 minutes of walking per day. That’s not nothing.

But the tracker itself isn’t magic, and one long-term study found that simply wearing one didn’t lead to better weight-loss results.

The real value is the nudge: a reminder to walk, train, sleep, or stop pretending yard work counts as leg day. Wear one if the data actually changes what you do; skip it if it’s just another screen buzzing at you.
