Hiccups for 68 years
Pick one thing
The secrets of super communicators
And more...
Let’s get into it.
If you’re new here, welcome. Happy to have ya!

📕 DAD WISDOM
Someone
Today’s inspiration comes from Marcus Mumford. Apparently dad life has reached the point where random songs on the way to kids’ basketball practice can make ya feel some things. Cool.
To the newer dads…just wait.
Anyway, there’s a line from the ‘Banjo Song’ that goes like…did you call, did you fall, do you need someone?”
For whatever reason, that one hit me in the plums.
There are probably a hundred songs I’ve heard over the years that I never thought twice about. Then you have kids, and they start growing up way too fast, and suddenly a line like that means something completely different.
Because we get to be that someone.
Right now they need us for just about everything. Eventually, that changes. But hopefully they still know they can call when something goes sideways, when something great happens, or when they just need their dad.
The role will look a lot different at 18 than it does at 8 or 5. But being their someone? Hopefully that part never changes.
Pretty damn cool role we get to have.

SMALL TALK
A couple random facts you probably don’t need to know… but might come in handy the next time you're standing around at a kid’s birthday party making awkward conversation with another dad you barely know.

A 5-year-old can recognize roughly 10,000 words.
The longest recorded hiccup streak lasted 68 years. Charles Osborne started hiccuping in 1922 and didn’t stop until 1990. An estimated 430 million hiccups.
A baseball travels from the pitcher’s hand to home plate in about four-tenths of a second on a 100 mph pitch. A hitter has roughly half that time to decide whether to swing.

DAD BOD
Optimize Later

There are a million ways to optimize your health right now. Supplements, sleep scores, macros, cold plunges, Zone 2, mobility…the list never ends.
But research suggests too many choices can make it a helluva lot harder to follow through.
So strip it down: pick one thing you know would make you healthier and do it consistently for the next few weeks. Walk every day. Lift twice a week. Stop eating after dinner. You can optimize later.
