📕 DAD WISDOM

Not On The Same Day

A video popped up on my IG feed the other night (while watching the Pittsburgh Penguins dismal playoff performance in the background).

A guy was talking about what kept his parents together all those years, and his dad said:

“We never gave up on the same day.”

That feels like pretty good parenting advice too. There are going to be days when you’re fried. Short fuse. Low patience. Just not your best.

And chances are, your partner’s going to have those days too. The key isn’t avoiding them. It’s just not having them on the same day.

One of you carries a little more when the other can’t. Then it flips. No system. No perfect balance. Just a quiet understanding that you’re picking each other up as you go.

SMALL TALK

A couple random facts you probably don’t need to know… but might come in handy the next time you're standing around at a kid’s birthday party making awkward conversation with another dad you barely know.

  • First-born kids score, on average, slightly higher on IQ tests than their siblings. Not because they’re smarter…they just get more one-on-one time early on.

  • The average American spends about 6 months of their life waiting at red lights. Which feels especially true when you’ve got a kid in the backseat asking if you’re “almost there” every 30 seconds.

  • Kids are more likely to remember random, unplanned moments with their parents than big planned events, according to memory research.

DAD GEAR

When the Power Goes Out

Some gear you nickel-and-dime. This isn’t that. The Jackery HomePower 3600 Plus is a bite-the-bullet buy…the kind that sits quietly in the garage for years, then earns its keep the first time the lights go out and everything else keeps humming.

It’s 42% off right now and we’re seriously considering it.

DAD BOD

Stop Winging Your Health

When’s the last time you checked your health? Not in a panic way. Just in a “be a grown man and know your numbers” way.

Most of us are guessing. Eat a little better. Work out a few times a week. Hope it’s doing something. But lab tests tell you how your body’s actually performing. Hormones. Cholesterol. Inflammation. The stuff that matters.

That’s why we like Function. They give you access to 160+ lab tests so you can see exactly where you stand and what to do next.

No guessing. Just your numbers. If you’re trying to get dialed in, this is step one.

We’ve got a $25 credit for Dad Day readers if you want to check it out. Do it for the kids, y’all!

PS: We recently ran our own Function test. Eye-opener in the best way. Highly recommend.
