It had to be done

PLUS - the power of going slow

Happy Friday, guys.

This week flew by. Got family in town, so I’m looking forward to some beach and pool time this weekend.

Hope you get some sunshine and a little recharge. We’ll catch ya Monday.

PS: If you’re new here, we mix it up on Fridays with a quick recap from the week and a few extra gems to head into the weekend right.

“The nature of impending fatherhood is that you are doing something that you’re unqualified to do, and then you become qualified while doing it.”

FROM THE TRENCHES

What do you actually get done during nap time?

One of the dads in our Slack group (shoutout Brock) asked this earlier in the week.

Here’s what a few dads had to say:

  • “My go-to is outside house chores or getting dinner prepped. If my wife’s home too, we divide and conquer.”

  • “It’s ‘power hour.’ I try to crank through as much as possible before the tiny human wakes up.”

  • “I nap too. 30–45 minutes, then I get what I can done.”

  • “Honestly, I get about 40% of what I plan to do—and I try to squeeze in one adult convo with my wife while she’s doing laps around the house.”

  • “I used to try and tackle everything during nap time. Now I keep a ‘nice-to-do’ list instead of a ‘must-do’ list. That shift helped a lot. Also? Five small wins > one big incomplete task.”

Nap time might be short, but it still counts.

If you’re not in Slack yet, we’ve got over 200 dads hanging out. It’s all async: ask a question when you can, get gear recs, swap parenting wins, and share tips on everything from fitness to finances. Jump in whenever. No pressure, just good people. It’s free.

With Nikon

The older we get, the more we realize that quality gear is always worth it.

It lasts longer, works better, and ends up saving you money in the long run.

Every dad needs a solid pair of binoculars. Full stop. Soccer games, camping trips, backyard bird spotting, keeping the kids entertained on a hike - trust us, they’ll get used.

We like Nikon’s ProStaff line. Crystal-clear optics. Built tough. And something you’ll actually pass down instead of toss out.
