What Made You Feel Proud?
This idea popped up on my feed the other day, and I’ve actually been using it with my 7-year old.
Instead of asking your kid how their day was, try asking: “What made you feel proud today?”
It’s a small shift. But it changes the whole conversation.
You’re not asking for a highlight or a result. You’re asking them to notice something about themselves.
Something they did
Something they tried
Something they handled well
Over time, that stuff adds up. They start to recognize their own effort. Their own growth. Their own value, without needing it from someone else.
No big lesson here. No long talk required. Just one better question at the end of the day.

SMALL TALK
A couple random facts you probably don’t need to know… but might come in handy the next time you're standing around at a kid’s birthday party making awkward conversation with another dad you barely know.

The average parent will change around 2,500–3,000 diapers in a baby’s first year. Which means at some point you’ve done it half asleep… and still nailed it.
Kids laugh about 300 times a day. Adults? Closer to 20. Not saying we should act like kids… but they might be onto something.
Nearly 1 in 4 stay-at-home parents in the U.S. are dads now. That number has steadily climbed over the past decade.

DAD GEAR
Go-To Pump
The ETENWOLF Vortex S6 is the kind of tool you don’t think about, until you need it, and then it’s everything. It’s fast, powerful, rechargeable, and handles everything from truck tires to your kid’s bike without turning it into a whole ordeal. Throw it in the truck and forget about it… right up until it saves your day.

DAD BOD
Start Before You’re Ready

A lot of guys get this backwards: they wait to learn before they start. Turns out, struggling first is the cheat code.
One massive analysis found that taking a crack at something before you’re taught can double, even triple, how well it sticks.
It works because your brain starts searching, missing, and paying attention in all the right places. So when you feel rusty, out of shape, or clueless in the gym… good. That’s not failure, that’s the warm-up.
Hat tip to Arnold’s Pump Club for surfacing the research.
