House projects + cold drinks
PLUS - the best chicken breast recipe?

Happy Friday. School’s out over here. My wife’s taking the kids to see the in-laws for the next 5 days, which means I’ve got a rare window to tackle about 47 house projects I’ve been pretending don’t exist.
Enjoy the long weekend and take a moment to remember what Memorial Day is really about. Grateful for those who served and sacrificed.

“My father always said there are four things a child needs: plenty of love, nourishing food, regular sleep, and lots of soap and water. After that, what he needs most is some intelligent neglect.”

Wisdom of the Week: The hard days are real. But they’re not forever. Try to catch a moment when it’s good. Slow it down. Not for Instagram; just for you.
Time’s moving whether you notice it or not. Might as well pay attention.

FROM THE TRENCHES
We’ve mentioned the Dad Day Slack community a few times, but seriously, it’s become a solid space to swap stories, vent, and realize none of us are doing this alone.
Same goal, different chaos: trying to be the best dads we can while juggling work, life, and everything that comes along with it.
From the #fatherhood channel this week:
Q: “Anyone else get annoyed with their toddler?”
Short answer: Yes. All of us.
It’s part of the grind—testing patience, pushing buttons, and then asking for a snack like nothing happened. You’re not alone.

Kevin with the entertainment console, side table, and coffee table build (couldn’t fit in photo). Nice work, Kevin. Thanks for sharing.
Working on something? Reply to this email and send it our way. House Projects, Green Grass, Businesses, Whatever. Would love to feature it. Otherwise, you’ll be looking at my unfinished projects.

WEEKEND BURNER
This one’s a beast and a Memorial Day classic.
MURPH
For time:
1 mile run
100 pullups
200 pushups
300 air squats
1 mile run
RX version: Do it with a 20lb vest. But scaling is smart—partition the reps (e.g. 20 rounds of 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 squats) and drop the vest if needed.
Murph isn’t just a workout, it’s a tribute. Created in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL who gave his life in Afghanistan. So yeah, it’s meant to be tough. Dig deep.

dad shower thoughts: Why is it that every time I sit down, someone suddenly needs a snack?
