📕 DAD WISDOM
Front and Center
On a recent podcast episode, we talked about not waiting until 2027 to start thinking about what you want to change, build or get better at.
So here’s a super simple one you can steal today.
I did some executive coaching last year for the first time in my career. I’d always kind of written the whole thing off, but I got connected with a guy named Brian Genuser and we hit it off, so I figured I’d try it.
Early on, he had me make a new desktop wallpaper. What? This is what I’m paying for? But I did it.
I stare at a screen most of the day anyway, so I put a few things on there I wanted to keep in front of me. Family. Work. Health. Where I’m trying to go.
It’s kinda wild how much I actually notice it.
You’re bouncing between tabs, calls, emails, whatever, and there it is in the background. Just a little reminder of what actually matters when the day starts pulling you in ten directions.
Been way more useful than I expected. Shout-out to Brian for that one.

RAD DAD
John Wooden

Going old school today with one of the greatest coaches of all time.
John Wooden. He coached UCLA basketball for 27 years and won 10 national championships. Seven in a row, which is still a ridiculous stat.
Let’s look beyond basketball for a minute. Grew up on a farm in Indiana, where his dad gave him a handwritten seven-point creed when he graduated from elementary school.
A few of the rules:
Be true to yourself
Help others
Make friendship a fine art
Make each day your masterpiece
Build a shelter against a rainy day
Wooden carried that little piece of paper in his wallet for decades. In 1932, he married his high school sweetheart, Nell. They had two kids and were married for 53 years before she died in 1985.
Wooden never remarried. Instead, on the 21st of every month, he'd write Nell another love letter. He kept doing it for decades.
He lived to be 99. Pretty wild that a guy who coached some of the greatest basketball teams ever was still carrying around advice his own dad gave him as a kid. #goals

DAD GEAR
Stop Digging Through Your Camera Roll
It’s rare we feature an app here, but we’re stoked on this one.
Finding one specific photo of your kid is a nightmare. They’re in your camera roll, a text thread, some shared album you forgot about. I spent twenty minutes the other night digging for one picture and found four fantasy football screenshots first.
Tinybeans puts everything in one private place. Add a caption or a voice memo so you remember what was going on, share it with the grandparents in one tap, and turn it into a photo book when you’re ready.
Dad Day readers get 3 free months of Tinybeans+ (the premium version) plus $15 off a photo book with code DADDAY. 150k 5-star reviews!
Sponsored. We only work with brands we actually use.

DAD BOD
Post-Meal Air Squats

Here’s a fun one to try: after your next meal, knock out 20 air squats.
Research on short “exercise snacks” has found that even brief bouts of movement around meals can help blunt the blood sugar spike afterward.
Squats are not magic here. The point is just to get some big muscles working instead of going straight from the table to chair. Bonus points if you do it in public.
