Don't run in the rain

PLUS - the perfect homemade pizza dough

Happy Friday, gents. It’s full-on summer.

I’m kicking off the weekend with some beach and swim time and celebrating my birthday tomorrow with a rare date night on the calendar.

Hope you get some sunshine, a cold drink, and at least 10 minutes of peace. Stay cool out there.

PS: If you’re new here, we mix it up on Fridays with a quick recap from the week and a few extra gems to head into the weekend right. See ya Monday!

“Fatherhood isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being present, even when it’s hard, and showing your kids what love looks like in the everyday moments.”

FROM THE TRENCHES

This week’s big question: How are you handling cell phones and social media with your kids?

One dad asked the group how others are thinking about it, especially with all the research showing how harmful social media can be—particularly for young girls. The responses were thoughtful, honest, and a little fired up.

  • “Our plan is to wait until 8th or 9th grade. That’s what worked for my brother-in-law’s teens.”

  • “We do YouTube Kids for our 6-year-old, but with a strict timer. The phone conversation will wait until around 9th grade.”

  • “I want to get her a brick phone when the time comes. Call, text, no social. Even if she hates me for it.”

  • “After reading The Anxious Generation and The Coddling of the American Mind, I’ve landed on no internet-accessible phones until at least 16. Unless someone can show me data that says otherwise.”

Whether you’re still years out or in the thick of it, this stuff isn’t easy. But these convos are why this community exists—to figure it out together.
