📕 DAD WISDOM
But Why?
My 8-and 5-year-old boys are very much in the “why?” phase right now. Meanwhile our 7-month-old is still trying to understand the value of a good night’s sleep.
Why do you wake up at 5am to work out?
Why did you get mad when that driver cut you off?
Why do you have to work today?
And then every once in a while they’ll throw out something surprisingly deep that I’m completely unprepared to answer at 7:15 in the morning.
Kids want a reason for everything.
Somewhere along the way, we stop asking quite as much. We get into routines, chase goals, react to stuff, and just keep moving.
Sometimes the answer is obvious. You wake up at 5 because that’s the only damn time you have to work out. But every once in a while, asking yourself “why am I doing this?” is probably worth it.
Maybe the answer is exactly what you hoped. Maybe it isn’t. Either way, good to know.

SMALL TALK
A couple random facts you probably don’t need to know… but might come in handy the next time you're standing around at a kid’s birthday party making awkward conversation with another dad you barely know.

The Weber grill started as a buoy. In 1952, a Chicago metalworker got sick of wind and ash ruining his cookouts, cut a metal marine buoy in half, added some legs and a lid, and basically invented the modern kettle grill.
An 11-year-old kid just became the youngest museum curator in the world. Anderson Taylor started collecting natural-history specimens at 7 and now runs his own museum in Illinois, complete with school tours. Your kid’s rock collection suddenly has some upside.
A sealed bottle of Guinness recently pulled from a 162-year-old shipwreck may still be drinkable. Divers found it off the coast of Scotland and researchers are even hoping to recover the old yeast to figure out what Victorian-era Guinness tasted like.

DAD GEAR
Slant Board
Don’t sleep on this thing. I’ve been using a wooden slant board for the last year as part of my pre-workout stretching, and it’s been a game changer for my calves, ankles, and lower legs. Simple, cheap, and gets used way more than I expected. 28% off, too!

DAD BOD
Clean Air

You probably think a lot about what you eat and how you train, but the air in your house is doing laps through your lungs all day.
We spend about 90% of our time indoors, and a decent HEPA purifier can help pull things like dust, pollen, smoke, and other tiny particles out of the air. It’s not some miracle health hack, but if you deal with allergies, pets, kids, cooking smoke, or just want cleaner air in the bedroom, it’s a pretty easy win.
Just get one that’s sized for the room and skip anything that produces ozone.
