Hey guys. Happy Friday. Team retreat to Chicago, so we’re a little behind today. Have a great weekend.

We’ll see ya Monday.

If you’re new here, we mix it up on Fridays with a quick recap from the week and a few extra gems to head into the weekend right.

IN THE TRENCHES

Topic: Who's Planning All This Stuff?

Between birthday parties, weekend outings, family trips, and the occasional attempt to get everyone out of the house, somebody has to figure out what we're doing.

So we asked: Who's usually in charge of planning family activities?

Turns out, the wives are running the show in quite a few households.

44% said mostly their partner, while 27% split things pretty evenly. Another 18% of dads handle most of the planning themselves, and 11% admitted they're largely making it up as they go.

  • One dad said his wife finds most of the cool events because she's on social media and he's not.

  • Another admitted he gets so caught up in the daily routine that thinking ahead to the weekend doesn't always happen.

  • And one dad said his wife is the big traveler in the family, while he's usually the one looking at how much everything costs.

  • A few guys pointed out that their wives genuinely enjoy planning, and it's simply become how their households operate.

Appreciate everyone who chimed in this week. And a little extra credit to the spouses out there keeping the family calendar full.

PROJECTS

Show us your space or something you’re working on…

This one comes from Chris M. in the Slack group. Even poured the concrete himself. Nice work, Chris. Thanks for sharing!

WEEKEND BURNER

Grab one dumbbell or kettlebell and set a 20-minute timer:

  • 200m run

  • 5 goblet squats

  • 5 push-ups

  • 5 one-arm rows each side

Next round, do 10 of each strength move. Then 15. Keep adding 5 reps every round while the run stays at 200m. Just keep moving and see how far you get.

ONE LAST THING

🍻 60-Mile October Challenge and Hill Yeah: The crew is still grinding on the 60-mile challenge. Head over to Strava to log your miles. HILL YEAH is happening. It’s our most unofficial gathering to date.

🍻 Weekend Assignment: Hold a family blind taste test. Buy three different brands of the same snack, hide the packaging, and have everyone rank them. Oreos, chips, chocolate milk, whatever.

🧠 Worth Knowing: Bubble Wrap was originally invented in 1957 as textured wallpaper. Nobody wanted it. The inventors tried marketing it as greenhouse insulation before eventually realizing it was pretty damn good at protecting stuff during shipping. Possibly the only failed wallpaper that's entertained millions of people.
