Happy Monday guys. Hope the weekend was solid.
A little behind on today’s send…had to hit the kiddos’ school presentation this AM. Felt on brand.
If you’re new here, welcome. Happy to have ya.

📕 DAD WISDOM
Appreciate the Season
I'm writing this one to myself as much as anyone.
I've got friends about to have their first kid. Friends knee-deep in their second and third. And I'm over here with our third (newborn), tired and stressed in ways I didn't know were possible.
Because when we had our first, it felt like the hardest thing we'd ever done. And now, looking back from where I'm standing? That was a cakewalk. I had no idea how much time and freedom I actually had.
The problem is life doesn't let you see that in real time.
Candidly, I've had a hard time enjoying this latest season. It's stressful. I keep telling myself to slow down and take it in. And I still find myself on edge. Because now the responsibility just feels heavier.
I don't have an answer for that. And honestly, that's kind of the point of these emails. We're not experts. We're just regular dads sharing what we're going through.
So whatever season you're in right now, just know this: the next one shows up before you're ready.
Take a breath. Keep pushing. And try to be where your feet are.

RAD DAD
Domenick Satterberg
A lot of Domenick Satterberg’s life is spent on the road filming for NFL Films.
Which means when he’s home in Clovis, California with his three daughters, he makes it count.
Drop-offs. Pickups. Piano, gymnastics, basketball, theatre. The schedule is full, but his rule is simple. Be there for what matters.
For Domenick, that looks like never missing a daddy-daughter dance. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s important.
He says the hardest part of parenting is saying no. The most important part is showing up.
And one thing he’s learned along the way? You don’t do this alone. His wife runs the operation when he’s on the road. In his words, she’s the real rockstar.
The takeaway is simple. You don’t have to be everywhere. Just don’t miss the moments that matter.

Buy Some Motivation?

Gif by parksandrec on Giphy
Struggling with motivation? Put money on the line and circle a date.
There’s real science here. Psychologists call it a commitment device. When you lock yourself into a future action, follow-through goes way up. Add loss aversion into the mix and suddenly skipping a workout feels worse than doing it.
That’s why signing up for a race or event works. It turns “I should work out” into “I have to show up.”
I just wrapped a 10K here in Charleston and knew I was beating last year’s time. No debate. No excuses.
Studies show specific, time-bound goals consistently outperform vague intentions. A date on the calendar forces action.
If you’re stuck, don’t wait for motivation. Go buy some.
