Happy hump day.
We’re 15 days out from the Winter Olympics, which feels close enough to start pretending we understand curling again.
Also, we’ve had a bunch of new subs roll in lately. If you’re new here, welcome. Glad you found us.
Let’s get into it.

📕 DAD WISDOM
Did You Have Fun?
I was at my son’s soccer practice the other day and heard a bunch of dads in the parking lot ask the same question on the way out:
“Did you have fun?”
Seems like that’s almost always the first thing we ask our kids. Not did you win. Not did you score. Not were you the best one out there. Just… did you have fun?
But somewhere along the way, we stop asking ourselves that.
Bills need to be paid. Schedules need to be kept. Life needs to happen. And without realizing it, fun becomes something we assume we’ll get back to later.
The thing is, our kids are always watching how we move through the world. If everything feels like a grind, they feel that too.
Fun doesn’t have to be big or irresponsible. It can be small. A laugh. A hobby. A workout you actually enjoy. Time with people who make you feel lighter.
So maybe it’s worth asking yourself the same question once in a while.
Did you have fun today?
And if the answer is no, maybe that’s not a failure. Maybe it’s just a nudge to start making a little room for it.

RAD DAD
Charlie Lima
Charlie Lima is a gym owner in College Station, Texas, and a dad of four. Three boys and one teenage daughter. Busy house, full calendar.
The hardest part of parenting for him is threading the needle between how he was raised and raising kids in a completely different world. Holding onto the big values while shaping a life that actually fits who his kids are today.
The most rewarding part is simple and powerful. Their loyalty. The way kids love purely and fully, without conditions.
One lesson that stuck with him was around the idea of not being able to be everywhere, but being there when it matters.

DAD BOD
The Importance of Strength Training

I love a good run. Clears the head. Burns off stress. Easy to lace up and go.
But strength training plays a different role.
Think of lifting as insurance. A few days a week now pays off later…stronger bones, better balance, more muscle in reserve when life (or age) throws a curveball.
Science is pretty clear here: after 30, muscle loss is optional if you give your body a reason to keep it.
That’s why you don’t see a lot of jacked dudes in nursing homes. There’s a reason for that.
