Topic: Protecting Your Daughter
A dad shared a moment that made his blood boil in our Slack group.
During a car dealership visit, the sales manager kept staring at his almost-11-year-old daughter and asking personal questions. Name. Age. Birthday. Sign. Then: “Isn’t she so pretty?”
He ended the conversation and walked out. Later he wondered… should I have called it out? Did I let her down by not confronting the guy?
Here’s How The Crew Responded:
You did the right thing by removing her from the situation. Sometimes walking away is the move.
Protect first. Process later. Several dads said the more important piece is the one-on-one conversation with your daughter after. How she felt. What was weird. Why it was weird.
Modeling composure matters. Not losing your temper in public doesn’t mean you’re weak. It shows her how to handle uncomfortable moments with control.
It’s a life lesson moment. Not just about inappropriate behavior, but about boundaries and how to navigate the world safely.
And a hard truth: this won’t be the last time. Helping her build awareness and confidence now is part of the job.
No perfect script in moments like that. Just instinct, protection, and steady leadership.
